Blue Nol cards for the Dubai Metro should be available sometime in November 2009. A Gulf News report quoted Abdullah Al Madani, CEO of the RTA Corporate Technical Support Services, as saying “The Nol Blue Cards, which will be launched in a few weeks, are personalised cards aimed at protecting the users from any misuse of their metro fare cards”
Monthly passes and discounted travel for students, senior citizens, and special needs travellers won’t be available until the second quarter of 2010 according to the same report. So until then, what’s the point of a Blue Nol Card? It’s 70 dhs whereas the Silver Nol Card is only 20 dhs. The advantage might be that if you lose a Blue Nol Card, you can get another one (probably for a fee).
