The Gulf News had a report this morning that Dubai driving licenses could be renewed online at the RTA website. Dubai driving licence page updated with renewal instructions.
- Engineer Ali Al Jasem, Director of the Licensing Department of the Licensing Agency of the RTA said “We have launched the online driving licence renewal service this week,” according to the GN report.
- An eye test needs to be done first, go to a branch of branch of Al Jaber Optical Center or Al Yateem Optician.
- Bring 2 passport photos, passport or other proof of identity (presumably additional to your driving licence) when you go for the eye test, cost is AED 25.
- Optician will either give you results or send them direct to the RTA (or both?)
- Vist the RTA website >> Public e-services >> Traffic e-services >> Renewal of Driving License
- Login and follow instructions, renewal charges are AED 110.
- How the eye test and documents get uploaded is not clear - presumably you’d need to scan them in.
- This appears to be a process that can only be done for Dubai licences since the RTA is the traffic department for Dubai, not other emirates.
