Dubai Marina Mall opened in Dubai Marina on 22 December 2008 but apparently with not many shops. Didn’t make it for a visit until a week later. I think it’s the second Emaar mall in Dubai (The Dubai Mall was the first), and has the second Dubai Waitrose supermarket. Cinema complex not open yet (maybe by mid-2009), most food court shops not open yet but bright and airy with lots of window, and outdoor seating looking out over the Dubai Marina on the top floor. The usual collection of junk food shops there.
As part of the Marina Mall, there’s a Gourmet Food Tower about 7 floors high. Still under construction but for foodies, should be an attractive destination when finished (maybe by end 2009 or early 2010 at a guess?).
Access to DMM direct from Sheikh Zayed Road heading in Abu Dhabi direction, signposted. Car park is a bit confusing, you seem to wind up going up and down every one of the several floors (4?) when you don’t want to. Looks like they’re planning to charge for parking one day also.
Overall, a great place for all the Dubai Marina residents - supermarket, decent range of shops, cinema, cafes, restaurants, and cheap food all within walking distance for those living down the Abu Dhabi end of the Dubai Marina. You’d almost never want to leave …
