Dubai Metro fares are discounted for Emirati students and the elderly, and free for Special Needs passengers and small children … eventually. Emirates Business 24-7 reported on 20 September 2009 that the RTA said:
- 50% discount and free travel for 30 days for UAE National students and the elderly (no information about expat students).
- Free for Special Needs people
- Free for children under 5, who will not need a Nol card.
Press release from the RTA not found, and date when these discount fares come into effect unknown. Report seems to imply expat students will be paying full adult fares. There are Blue Nol Cards already available for students and senior citizens travelling on the Dubai Metro, perhaps special needs passengers also, on application to the RTA.
