List of Dubai Metro websites added with brief descriptions of the main ones that turn up for a Google search, or the ones that should turn up. Of course, nothing is as good as the Dubai FAQs Dubai Metro page (we think ;)). And here’s the Dubai Metro fares information (which is what everyone seems to want). Some UAE newspapers and magazines have a decent enough section about the Dubai Metro - Time Out Dubai and Gulf News for example (although their printed guides are better if you can find them - the Gulf News pocket map is particularly good). List of some of the more obvious websites is:
- www.nol.ae - the official RTA website, and a good source of Dubai Metro information
- www.dubaimetro.info - forwards to www.rta.ae which itself is not that great for Dubai Metro information
- www.dubaimetro.ae - also forwards to www.rta.ae
- en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dubai_metro - good for background, not so much for practical information
- www.dubaimetro.eu - number 1 on the Google, but nothing particularly original. Mostly a copy/paste collection of newspaper articles and press releases, and some material copied from DubaiFAQs without so much as a thank you or acknowledgement :(.
- www.dubaimetro.com - an obvious choice but is mostly just a copy of the Wikipedia page about the Dubai Metro
- www.mydubaimetro.com - a FlipMedia website. Slow to load. Also copied material from DubaiFAQs, surprisingly, you’d think they would know better :(.
- www.dubai-metro.me - a copy/paste collection of Dubai Metro information from various sources, and yet another website copying from DubaiFAQs :(.
Now what was it that Mr Charles Caleb Colton said? “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery“? So should we be flattered that so many websites want to do a copy/paste of DubaiFAQs information? Funny, we don’t feel very flattered. Actually, Mr Colton apparently said “Imitation is the sincerest of flattery“, and perhaps if he was around in the internet age he might be more likely to say something “Imitation is beginning to tick me off” …
