Ikea Abu Dhabi information updated with news about an Ikea store on Yas Island. Press release from Aldar Properties 16 September 2009 announced that the largest Ikea store would be built as part of the new Yas Mall on Yas Island. No information about opening date, or size of the new store was included. Any guesses as to when it might be ready? Maybe 2012? The Yas Mall is a substantial shopping center itself and I don’t know if that much progress has been made yet. I don’t even know if it’s part of phase I, which is not due for completion until 2011. At present, all effort is focused on the Yas Marina Circuit for the Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix in November 2009.
