Mercato Mall added to list of Dubai shopping malls. Mercato is in the Jumeirah 1 area of Dubai, just past Dubai Zoo on Jumeirah Beach Road if heading towards Bur Dubai. Mercato has Italian looking decor and some cobble stoned paths inside if you look carefully, a cinema complex, cafes, restaurants, etc. A decent sized Virgin music and video shop, also books, computers, and other electronics. Medium size as shopping malls in Dubai go, becoming comparatively smaller as bigger and bigger shopping centers open in the UAE. A press release announced some new shops that had opened up in 2008 and 2009. The Home Centre furniture shop that was there has closed (in 2007?).
