The World Dubai updated with news that a One&Only resort is planned for the island development. Gulf News reported that the Chairman of Dubai World, Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, said “The hotel for The World will be based on the One&Only Hotel in the Maldives, and at the moment we think it’s going to be on the Greenland island“. No time frame or other details seen, except that the hotel resort would have 130 rooms. So far there’s no, or almost no, evidence of anything being built on any of the islands of The World, except for the show home that was finished back in 2005 or 2006. Which is also on Greenland?

- Nakheel Properties is the developer of The World, and is a subsidiary of Dubai World.
- Dubai World is a Dubai Government holding company (a very large one).
